Description

Tradjenta, also known as Linagliptin or Tradjenta 5 mg, is an oral antidiabetic drug developed to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. The active ingredient in Tradjenta is a generic medicine known as DPP-4 inhibitor, which is part of the gliptin group of antidiabetes drugs. This drug is used in combination with a healthy diet and exercise to improve blood sugar regulation in adults with diabetes mellitus. It should not be used on its own or in combination with other blood glucose-lowering drugs. Additionally, it should not be used in the treatment of type 1 diabetes, nor should it be used in combination with other antidiabetes drugs for the prevention of diabetic ketoatacidosis.

How does Trajenta work?

Tradjenta belongs to a group of widely used antidiabetic drugs known as DPP -4 inhibitors. These drugs aid in the regulation of insulin levels, particularly after meals when blood glucose levels are high, as well as the reduction of blood sugar levels caused by the body’s own production of sugar. By blocking the breakdown of certain hormones involved in the metabolism of food and insulin regulation, Tradjenta allows for the release of more insulin from the pancreas’ beta cells while simultaneously delaying the release of glucagon, which prevents further increases in blood glucose levels. Generally, in combination with a nutritious diet and regular physical activity, Tradjenta can help the body generate more insulin and reduce blood glucose levels.
