Uses of Telma
Telma is a prescription medicine used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure. It lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke by reducing blood pressure. It contains an active ingredient called Telmisartan, which belongs to a group of drugs called Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB).
ARBs work by dilating blood vessels to prevent episodes of hypertension. Medicines under this drug class also treat kidney disease in people with diabetes.
Telma Precautions and Warnings
Do not take Telma if you are allergic to it, particularly Telmisartan as its active ingredient. To ensure your safety with Telma, tell your healthcare professional if you have a history of the following conditions:
- Heart condition
- Liver disease
- Kidney problems
Telma is not safe to use for children below 18 years of age. Avoid alcohol consumption while on your treatment with Telma. It lowers your blood pressure and can trigger lightheadedness, headache, and dizziness.
Take one dose of Telma 40mg per day. It is important to take this medication at the same time each day. Its effects can be observed within 1 to 2 hours of intake. Telma 40 mg lasts for about 24 hours.
