Eliquis is administered to prevent blood from clotting. It is sold under the generic name Apixaban. Eliquis is utilized to lower someone’s risk of having stroke and blood clotting associated with atrial fibrillation. The same medicine is given to people who have just undergone surgeries in the knees or hips. 

Other than the mentioned functions, Eliquis is also utilized for treating blood clots occurring in the lungs (pulmonary embolism) and legs (deep vein thrombosis). This medicine slows blood clot progression, eventually halting this medical condition. 

Eliquis Precautions and Warnings 

Prior to consuming Eliquis, make sure that you discuss with your doctor if you have a history of the following diseases:

  • Kidney Disease

If you happened to be pregnant, consuming this medication can affect your unborn baby. Additionally, if you are hypersensitive to the medicine or its components, avoid taking it as it can be fatal. 

Eliquis Dosage 

The required dosage for Eliquis: 

  • A total of 5mg per day.
  • The dosage can be consumed twice per day (2 doses x 2.5mg = 5mg of Eliquis).
  • You can ingest it with or without food.
