Champix is a form of medicine that helps adults or individuals to stop smoking. This prescription medicine contains an active substance called Varenicline, which acts by relieving craving symptoms and reducing the effects of pleasure that people get from smoking. The same substance also acts like nicotine that helps in preventing someone from smoking again. It is also available under the trade names Chantix and Tyrvara. 

Champix Precautions and Warnings

Prior to receiving your Champix dosage, ensure that you are not hypersensitive to the drug and its components. Other than that, tell your doctor of other medical conditions that you have to prevent acquiring other health complications. 

While on your medication, avoid drinking too much alcohol as it can affect the treatment process. Furthermore, you should stop taking this medicine if you experience any depressive or behavioral changes within yourself. 

Champix Dosage 

The dosage for this specific medication follows a set of guidelines. For your first dosage, expect that you will be given a lower dose, which will be increased after a few days. 

  • From day 1 to 3 – consume 0.5 mg once daily
  • From day 4 to 7 – consume 0.5 mg twice daily
  • From day 8 to the end of your medication – consume 1 mg twice daily
